Hi, I’m Brad McClure.
About pages always feel so awkward.
It’s just me talking about myself. Most of you reading this initially know me. If Substack works as advertised, new readers will end up on this page.
If you are one of those new readers, welcome. I’m honored that you stopped by, and a bit intimidated.
I enjoy writing, but I’m deeply insecure about it. We’ve all read those social media posts where people mess up spelling and butcher punctuation.
My mind tells me I’m that guy every time I post.
I feel more comfortable on a podcast because I’ve spent twenty-five years teaching the Bible.
This website is where those two desires collide. For the last five years, I’ve done a podcast called “Pulpit to Pew,” but I’ve decided to change the name and move everything here to Substack.
The name change has several reasons behind it (I’ll link to them here when I record the why), but it mainly concerns my heart and how God is dealing with me as I move forward, committed to following His plan.
Anyway, here’s a bullet-point overview of my life. You might understand better after reading it.
My Grandpa (retired), Dad, and brother are Pastors.
I got my Master’s Degree in Ministry and Pastored for 12 years.
After 12 years of ministry, I discovered my then-wife in an affair. That led to a divorce and my resignation from the church.
That marriage did give me five wonderful children. Three boys, two girls.
One of those boys, Braden, died at five months old in his sleep.
After the divorce, I remarried the kindest woman you will ever meet, Michelle.
I now work as a Retail Loan Officer at First National Bank.
I teach a class at my church. (Where my dad and brother pastor.)
I love to fish on my days off with my boys!
As you can see, I’ve had my share of adversity. Still, God has blessed me.
Thank you for stopping by my page. I hope this page encourages you to commit your way to following God’s.
Why a paid option? (Possibly coming soon)
Many Substackers have a paid option, but I don’t, officially, right now. I’m not going to lie; I’m scared of it. This is mainly because the voice in my head tells me those who know me will mock it, question it, and feel obligated to pay for it.
I want to ensure that if you give $50 or whatever, I provide value in return.
For now, assuming I figure out the settings on this new platform, I only have the founding member’s option open. You can donate any amount, if you feel led, to the startup of this adventure.
There is NO benefit for the paid option at this time. (How’s that for marketing 😃)
I’m just thankful you subscribed. Let’s have some fun!
**I saw a YouTuber say that Substack inserts their buttons into my posts to encourage people to become paid subscribers. If that happens know it’s not from me right now. I’ll let you know when/if I choose that route.
